Pistons for 502
 

My machine shop tells me since I gotta bore my blocks he has to have somebody make the pistons from scratch which means $$$. This dosen't sound right to me . Does somebody make an application for this issue, their getting bored 34k. Their GEN 6 502's Thanks.

BS J&E and a bunch of others makes 30th and 60th pistons
they are trying 2 screw u

Although pistons aren't getting any cheaper, there are plenty of off the shelf pistons. JE and SRP both have flat tops for a 4.500 bore. Either will work fine for your application.

Just bore 60 over and get off the shelf pistons.

502 replacement pistons are not availabe at this time for the 502 .i needed a set myself my machine shop told me the same thing . im a motor head and told them to stop all work and i would get my own. guess what i called everyone . even spoke to je direct they were making all pistons for gm but lost the contract so no more available . i had mine custom made by manley. 502 replacements identical only 0.30 600.00 to my door . who is doing the machine work ????

guy prob. said 30 thousand's not 4ths ;) ps: who has the GM contract now ?

NO IDEA. I WAS TOLD THIS FROM JE THEMSELVES. GM PERFORMANCE PARTS BOOK STILL LISTS THEM STD OR 0.30 THEY ARE THE SAME THE HP 500 S USE I SEARCHED EVERY WHERE PUT ON NATIONAL LOCATOR NG IM SURE YOU CAN GET KB HYPER PISTONS BUT YOU REALLY NEED FORGED

Ouch, my bad. I thought EVERYTHING was available oversized for rebuild purposes. :cool-smiley-027:

Since when? I just put a new set of SRP flattops in mine and had another friend buy a set just last Thursday. This doesn't sound right at all.
