How many hours are "normal" ??
I am looking to buy a used boat and wondered what you thought a normal amount of hours per year would be?? I realize that the overall condition of the boat and up-keep are critical as well, but would appreciate some feedback.

That depends on where you live. 50hrs a year is a good average.

Like Griff said....depends on where you live. Up here in the Great Lakes with the short season....50-75 is probably about the average. That number can also go up quite a bit if someone forgets to turn the ignition all the way off a few times a season. Left in the "accessory" position (like in your car) the hour meters are running but the motors are not. So.....your meters are a good barometer of age but a survey tells the true tale.

Just to add to the above, I lived in Northern Illinois and we sere lucky to do 50 hours. Here in Texas and the south we can boat all year round. Not unusual to put 80-100 hours on in a season. Get an hull and engine survey to determine the real hours and condition.
