600sci's and octane boost
Selling a new boat with 600's.Merc says 91 octane,only thing available is 89 where customer boats.Can he add Kemco 130 and be reasonably safe if he doesn't run hard,or is this asking for trouble?He doesn't have a trailer and is having no luck finding a supplier that will bring fuel to his dock.

Hey BIG Daddy have him pick up a couple gallons of Toulene from the local hardware and that will bump it up there 4 ya ... We can take 93 octane and with toulene puts her at 100+

Octane boosters can be a pain but sometimes you have no choice. I did some research a while back a some lakes have only 87 or 89 if you are lucky. I would not want to have to use boosters full time but that is just my choice.
Toulene works and a pretty good article even though it is a few years old. http://forums.audiworld.com/performa...gs/64381.phtml Runninghot how much toulene are you adding? |
He would smart to order 55 gallon drum of 110 octane for the season. To get 89 octane to 91, mix one gallon of 110 with every 10 gallons of 89 octane.
10x89=890 + 1x110=1000/11gallons=90.91octane. |

Tolulene is approx. 118 octane, so it works very well, but keep it off your gel coat, it will eat it pretty fast. Otherwise, a barrell of 110 or 116 will work nicely. As said above, 1 gallon of 110 to 10 gallons of 89 will put you just under 91 octane, which is fine for that engine. 2 gallons of 110 to 10 gallons of 110 will put you at 92 octane so thats some added insurance. Just keep the drum of fuel out of the sun/heat, it's not good during storage. Thanks, Dustin |
