EMI Thunder Exhaust....

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the site and look forward to reading several posts from the many who give great opinions on this forum.

A question to begin with. I have a '08 Formula 292 Fastech w/ twin 6.2 Merc's. I took off the stock cast iron manifolds from the factory and installed a pair of EMI Thunder exhaust kits. By installing the EMI's I know I reduced close to 75-100 pounds in weight per motor. But what I really want to know is, am I at all reducing the peak performance of the boat vs. the stock cast iron manifold set up?

Some numbers: 24 hours on motors, WOT RPM is 5000, WOT GPS speed is 70, and 28 labbed props tweaked a little from Mercury Racing.

Any comments would help. Thanks in advance.

This site compares Rev's to stock manifolds.

I believe you did the right thing. Removed unneeded weight and added a better flowing exhaust that has proven reliable. While it by itself will not provide a huge speed increase, its a solid foundation for future mods.

Thanks for all the feedback. Glad to know I'm headed in the right direction.
