Livorsi GPS Speedo Problem

The boat I recently purchased has a Livorsi GPS speedometer. As soon as you start moving it registers 20 mph, but irregardless of speed it stays on 20, and then occasionally it will jump up and register the proper speed for a few seconds and then back to 20. I haven't gotten under the dash yet to check things out, but if I'm correct, it probably just has a power wire and a wire from the antennae/sender. Anyone have any advice other than check for loose or corroded wires.

is 20 at the 9 oclock spot?

johnnyboatman 05-26-2008 10:04 PM

mine is stuck at the 50 mph mark, about 9.00position

ezstriper 05-27-2008 06:44 AM

call them, unit issue...

Airpacker 05-27-2008 06:52 AM

check for broken wires from the antenna to the head unit. The break INSIDE the plastic insulation.

It does not matter what the speed is, only that it is at the 9 oclock spot. I just boxed mine up and will send back today. They said it is usally the antenna and runs about $70 to repair with a two day turn around. Give livorsi a call 877-548-5900

Thanks. 20 is at approximately 9 o'clock.

Same problem on mine. I sent it to them to replace the rim and when I reinstalled it does the checkout when you turn the ignition on and then to 9 o'clock position no matter what speed.

Stuck @ 9:00 on a Livorsi is no, or bad signal from the antenna. Just replaced mine and it works fine. From the # of people with this problem (seems like a lot) on this thread, it may be more common than we knew...........

I tried that for a day or two, but it just didnt work anymore. and with the LOTO water patrol, I need to make sure Im doing exactlly 30 at night. so a working speedo is a must.

I spoke with Livorsi this morning. packed up the guage and antenna. Shipping it off now. should know something in a day or so.

QWKRN U 06-05-2008 04:59 PM

Got a message from em today, It was the Antenna. $75 to repair and its shipping back to me today.

gsmith9898 06-05-2008 08:27 PM

said mine was a battery in the antenna and would run $75 also. Should be here by the weekend.

QWKRN U 06-05-2008 08:33 PM

Odd that both of ours went out at the same time. What year is your boat?
Also keep an eye on your credit card. I just checked and they authorized $125 on mine. obviously it hasnt posted yet, but not sure why they would authorize that much when its only $75 for the repair.

how is the antenna attached? two sided tape or screws?I have to send mine back as well

QWKRN U 06-08-2008 08:17 PM

Mine was just held in place with clear silicone.
before you send it back in, check to see if you can replace the battery in the antenna. It was mentioned on another site, the battery is usually what causes the problem. Wish I would have known that before i sent it back in.

Why would they put a battery in the antenna? That seems like a wierd place to put a battery.

is the battery under the white cap and does it look like a camera battery flat?

gsmith9898 06-09-2008 07:35 AM

I got mine back friday and it worked perfect.

gsmith9898 06-09-2008 07:36 AM
