Where to dump water?

I'm building some new blower motors and trying now to get all the rigging lined up. Do you guys prefer to dump the intercooler water out the side of the hull or out the back through the transom and why?

I'm leaning toward the transom just for a cleaner look.

Thanks in advance for your replys.

Mine are dumped out the transom

Just finished installing my intercoolers and wondering about the same. About to drill holes for the discharge. Would really be cool to use for the drive showers but wouldn't be able to see.

I ran mine out the sides. Mainly cause the holes were there
However It gives you the ability to lean over and know your spewing water.

after having both, i would choose the side so you can take a quick look for your water flow. :cool-smiley-011:

DO IT ON THE STARBOARD SIDE! Just a quick glance back there and you can see the water flow, I check mine all the time. You will just have to get used to people telling you that your bilge pump is running:D

Out the side. I always look over the side and see the water coming out. If you dump out the back do it over the outdrive. Just a little more water to cool the drive

use them for drive showers

I'd go with straight up; out the top of the gunwales.

That way, you will look like a pair of Yamaha PWC coming down the lake. :D

My boat had blowers when I bought it and they discharged out the starboard side (I've since sold the blowers). If you raft up or dock much you won't like it. Whenever I rafted on my starboard side people wouldn't like me spraying water on them......lower profile boats would actually have water going IN their boat.

What about on the transom but angled slightly up so you can see it when running????

:Whatever:

Thanks for your wisdom Brian! LOL

Well I appreciate all the responses. I've always noticed that the boats I see with blowers are about 50/50 some out the side and some out the back. I see why and there are advantages to both.

With the Whipple system we will be running a gravity feed without a pump so there is not a chance of spraying anyone on the dock or if rafted since there is no water flow until you are moving.

Transom for a cleaner look. I understand the logic behind dumping out the side to ensure you have waterflow but to me it looks like your bilge is running all the time when it dumps out the side!

Mine dumps on the outdrive.

I would do em on the side as far back as you could, mine allready had one set of holes, so I had no choise.I watch the little one that bleads off the rear intake also.

Strip Poker 388 06-02-2008 01:32 PM

Doc also remember for winteriziation ya have to blow the water out of the innercooler, When I pulled mine this past winter I didnt think of it untill it was in the shop and for the hell of it blew it witha air hose ,it holds a good bit of water!!

You can always wire in a small pressure switch and an idiot light on the dash. Much easier than trying to remember to turn around and look back. Use two diodes and one lamp.

Out the side so I can see. I placed the dumps next to the bilge dump. Not much chance of spraying anyone at slow speeds using a thru-hull pickep.

Mine doesent have that much water coming out around 100

I would go out the transom, leaves a cleaner looking side, better picks at pokerruns. With your plumbing, you shouldn't need to check to see if water is coming out, besides once your up and running at speed, you need to be looking at the water, not the back side of your boat.:D
