bottom staining
ok lets hear some fixes what helps to keep bottom from getting yellow one day in water and whole bottom is stained i know previous owner used on off occasionally but not all the time is there a fix for this ???

Muratic acid in a pump garden sprayer. Spray it on and then hose it off. It will take the stain off easily.
Do it in the street. Rinse very well. If the trailer is aluminum, avoid getting the acid on it as much as possible and rinse it asap. The fumes suck. |
I usually use on off, works great. I work at a pool so we have muratic acid and I sometimes just grab jugs of it, you should prob dilute it a bit, or be real quick with a hose

Toilet bowl cleaner. Sno bowl works great.

I tried waxing it ,I think it made it worse the next time. I use Starbrite hull cleaner from Wallmart |

Once you start really hitting it hard and frequently with the chemicals it makes it worse... There is something on the new gelcoat that keeps it off longer... older boat... not much choice... just gotta keep hitting it. I have that problem as well... Clean er up she looks brand new... one day out in the salt and the stains are back. You should see it after our annual 2 weeks out. I guess thats why they invented bottom paint but of course non of us would go near it and loose MPH. Frustrating... but it is what it is.
Good Luck |
i think the gel-coat wears or gets porious overtime.i just did my fountain, looks good...but for how long.they say after you on/off the hull, you should hit it w/aleast two coats of wax.i am with you though,i dont like the acid on the hull.

FSR removes the stains. If very bad just let it sit on the hull for a couple days. My 386 had a terrible "coffee" stain on the bottem. A couple applications of FSR cleaned it up. If I'm leaving it in for a couple of days I put wax on the bottem but don't buff it off. Works pretty good. Don't use carnuba, thats fish food.
