If you like buildup, its still a crude based oil, with many parrifins and waxes

Is this one the dino version? Or the new synthetic racing oil?

Anyone heard of Joe GIbbs Racing oil? Supposed to be very high in anti scuff agents and zddp. I used his break in oil with great results.

....M-1 V-Twin is heavy on additives for long termed storage/anti-corrosion. I think in the marine environment that unto itself is worth special consideration.

Each of the oils are about equal from what I have seen in each category.

I. Super Premium Synthetic oils:
Mobil-1 20w-50 V-Twin
Amsoil Series 2000 20W-50
Redline 20W-50

II. Premium Synthetic Oils:
AROQT-EA Amsoil 20W-50
Mobil-1 15W-50 Silver Cap
Royal Purple 20W-50
Valvoline 20W-50 Racing Syn

III. Premium Semi-Syn:
Mercury 25W-40

IV. Premium Conventional:
Valvoline Racing 20W-50 or 40wt
Mercury 25W-40

I think it is still the one to beat in the marine offshore environment. ZN 1823 P 1683 Group V. PAO

Silver Cap M-1 is a great value for what you get too.

Many older tech oils relied on parrifins and waxes that were not fractionated out of the crude.

You guys know what burnt wax look like? :cool-smiley-011:

FYI

The Series 2000 Amsoil 0W-30 has a ton of ZDDP and very high base content. It is what you want in your towing rigs I believe.

Supposedly the Secret Service uses it in their vehicles I had read a while back.

M-1 10W-40 Motorcycle oil (mxt4) is also great for trucks during the summer....but I would not use it in a marine application...a bit too low in grade.

I've heard the same thing about the Secret Service. Something to do with the fact that their vehicles will run the longest if the oil was jeopardized.
