suggestions for starters
im really getting tired of these stock starters with the nylon gears, it seems if you get a backfire while starting these things are toast in a sec..i just put a brand new one in the starboard motor thats buried against the side of the boat, while i had the engines out so i wouldnt have to deal with trying to replace one in the boat and as i was starting it this week it popped it ..it there something better for BBC new style that works ??
thanks Scott |

I've been thinking about the compact gear reduction starters;I think a few companies are making billet models; don't know the price but just put one in my dually- lighter, smaller, easier, cranks like crazy. good luck -Jeff |

I just ran a stock BBC starter on my Scarab blower motor, never had a prob. The solenoid went bad once.
On the cars I bought a starterfor a 70 Chevelle,or 70 Chevy truck BBC ,the solenoid was longer, was told this was heaver duty, Tilton is a good starter ,more expensive,Powermaster has a good and cheap one, http://www.jegs.com/webapp/wcs/store...10689_-1_10393 |
