SBC valve covers
Where in the world can I purchase "tall" small block chevy valve covers that will work with GIL exhaust....
HELP!!!!! |
I had to get spacers to make my tall covers work with stainless marine exhaust...

Are you having problems finding vavle covers that will fit over the valve train? Or problems with clearing the manifolds?
I bought spacers from Hardin. I wouldnt reccomend them, I opened the box last night and theese things are half inch thick plates of steel. Each piece has between 1/16 and 1/8" rocker from end to end. |

I have the same Q as thrillseeker has. Do you need the tall covers to fit over roller rockers or ? I've run standard covers with roller rockers before, after grinding the drip tabs off...

3 Attachment(s)
With some grinding and a thicker gasket they will clear roller rockers.

Hello thrillseeker I noticed your post this morning in regards to the exhaust spacers you purchased. I pulled all of our others off of the shelf and they seem to have about a .030 variance in the overall length. All of these are maunufactured using a nitrogen laser to reduce heat during the manufacturing process and .030 is about as tight a tolerance as can be held. I would suggest that you return the units you have that you are unhappy with because it seems as if they are out of specification. We will gladly accept the parts in a unused and new condition for return. We pride ourselves in quality prodcuts and want you to be satisfied. Billet aluminum units could be CNC machined for you to a exacting specification while the cost would be near double that would assure you the perfect part.
Best regards Hardin Marine I will return them to CP Perf. Thank you for your concern and response. If used with iron heads and very thick gaskets they would probably work. I just dont see it happening with aluminum though. Ive had great experiences with various other Hardin products in the past, this time it just didnt work out.:) |
Hardin Spacers,
The only solution for my exhaust problem as well. Heavy but worked just fine |
