needle will barely move off 100deg.......got lots of oil temp though.......is this normal for crossovers??

Assume no theromstat, yes.
A restrictor might help, but watch your water pressure.

Hi,

With out a thermostat I dont believe that you will achieve a higer temp. Which is really what you want.

You need to run a thermostat housing with a bypass. It would have a fitting in the front of the housing that would connect to the middle of the cross over.

Stainless marine makes just the one or eddie marine.

Then you will be able to run a thermostat and get atleast 120-125 water temps.

You will have to drill 3 small holes in the stat for relief and even temps through out the rpm band. (T-stat 160Deg) (Worked For Me)

Hope this helps

that is true, I had a crossover with no provsion for a by pass and the same deal, way to cold..gets condensation in the engines, waiting on one now from eddie to run a bypass, Rob

They sell that style crossover for people that live in hot areas. It's no problem when the boat sits in water that is over 80 degrees. No T-stat in Canadian waters is going to mean trouble.

heres a closer pic of the set up......so I would put a hose fitting into the brass plug then get a new t stat housing????

That is correct.

how does that help the engines warm up......???

I am in Vt and have had nothing but problems with the t-stats. temp gauge spiking when coming off plane. Drilled holes in stat and made it worst...temp gauge spiked while running. Finally just took them out. Going to have to change oil more often.

Because it allows you to use a T-stat. If you were to put a T-stat in the housing you have now your exhaust would not cool while the engine gets to temp.Would also cause all kinds of pressure issues.
