Single or dual Carbs on a blower?
Hi guys. I have a hp 500 with a Weiand 256 blower, dual holley 660 race carbs. I was looking at changing out the duals for a single dominator but am not sure if I will get enough air/fuel to the motor. Would it be more efficient with a single or should I stay with the dual 4 setup? Thanks.

if these are the tunnel ram center squirter 660's I would get rid of them on a boat...not very low end friendly and like to kill plugs when docking etc. the single dominator would work fine, being set up right....or run a pair of 600 or 650 reg double pumpers set up for a blower( boost referenced power valve and jetting) Rob

1050 works for me, 454 brodix heads, 250 blower shop

How much do you think I would restrict performance by going with a single dominator? I would rather go to a single carb but don't want to sacrifice performance. What are you referring to when you "boost reference" the carb? Is this something that needs to be done?

With a small blower on an engine of that size you'll be fine with a single carburetor. Once you go to a larger blower dual carburetors makes a bigger difference.
|
What size carb do you think would be the most efficent? Most power?
|
It would depend on who builds the carburetor, and how it's set up. I would talk to your carburetor builder of choice and go with how they want to size and set it up.

In some cases that engine might actually pick up some power with that single carb.
Big dominator is more than enough carb. |
Any suggestions on a good carb guy?

Builds a really nice cusom unit for around the same price as a new one, and sometimes a little less. PM me and I'll get you his number. |
