Bad Ring Gear
 

Hi group what can i expect to pay for a new ring gear install in my 240 Baja if i remove the seat and cover

new flywheel and ring gear is about $350 for 5.7 merc, and about 5-6 hours of labor........

You can get a new ring gear for less than 100 bucks...trouble is most of the time you have to pull the motor to change one...

I recently paid $100. $50 for ring gear, and $ 50 buck for a machine shop to put it on the flywheel.

Like said, a ring gear will run you close to $50 and then about 1/2 hour labor to beat the old one off wire wheel the area heat and install the new one. Worst part is, you have to remove the motor which takes about an hour and a half and another 2 to put it back in. Maybe 3 to make sure everything is right.

Thanks all for your reply took it to Typhoon Marine they said about six hours one to two days so I left it there. I will keep you posted
