Anyone know anything about the two stroke 6v-92's?? We have one that is blowing a lot of black smoke and seems to be down on power.
Have had one suggestion of a possible air intake restriction that I have not checked out yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |
That would be the first thing I would look at.
If it was fuel related you wouldn't have the black smoke. Unless it's way over fueling, but that doesn't happen on it's own very often. |
Black smoke no power = Turbo /blower is bad
|
Thanks for the input. A little more info from me. 1995 model 6v92 not electronically controlled with less than 600 hrs.
Will check for air restriction this weekend and go from there. |
they have numerous thing that cause that, bad injector, exhaust leak(crack in manifold which is common) had a freind with a pair of them fought that issue for years !!! and still is as far as I know...

Check to make sure the emergency air shut down flap on the blower inlet hasn't tripped and needs to be reset. Common problem.

Your the second person who has said that. Now for the DUMB question : Where is it??? |
It's located in the blower inlet housing which is on top of the blower where the turbo compressor outlet connects. It should have a small lever on the side and a latch. The flap inside the housing is spring loaded closed. Cock the lever back against the spring pressure and lock the latch to hold it open. These were used on mechanically controlled engines as an emergency stop in case of an injector, linkage, or governor problem that would prevent normal shut down by moving the injectors to the stop position by the stop lever.

did you check the fuel filter yet?
|
New fuel filters the end of last year. Less than 10 hrs ago. Going to replace again anyways but with twin engines why only one acting up?
