39 MTI speed with 525's ?

Can anyone tell me the approx speed you would see in a canopied 39 MTI with a pair 525's.

Speed at the kilo run, Washington North Carolina a couple of years ago CMS boat- race legal and 8,250 lbs the boat ran 129 + , boat had Bravos -

I have heard rumors of 131 mph -

The boat will run 125 any day

Thanks James.I had it in my head a figure of 118.Don't know where i got that.

James 07-22-2008 07:54 PM

118 mph is a standard speed/ race set up for a cat lite. 36 skater, canopy with # 6's , stock 525's chugs along @ 124 mph , on thelimiter @ 44 gph per motor, 8,800 lbs - are you looking for a race boat/ cat with 525's ?

mid 120's. The 2006 and newer MTI race boat ran in the 130's dialed in.

525's in that seem to be such a waste of a great hull.

what year, drives, tunnel width... ?

newer SCL's can run in the mid to upper 130's now.

I have a Skater with 525's and a MTI with a lot more. The 525's are nice engines, don't even bother with bravo drives. The 525's are sluggish and take a long time to get to speed compared to a 700 or larger package.

i think they are racing it in class over there... i think he is trying to size up his competition :drink:

You got that right Sean.Yes i know,my idea of a 525 has a whipple supercharger on it.But that's the class.

We've supplied quite a few kits for 525hp efi engines that are racing, and doing very well. See the Taboo Fountain, one the last 3 races!

With stock 525 efi's? I find that amazing since my 28 Eliminator only does 117. Does a more eficient and lighter hull make that big of a difference? 20 m.p.h?

SpecialFX 11-02-2008 03:42 AM

The 368 skater hull is the best for this power, in ideal conditions, kilo runs Cat Lites with 6 drives would see maybe 133 mph, The MTI will not accelertae quite as well as the skater (bigger hull more wetted surface) and in this class with the lower power of the 525's acceleration, and keeping your speed especially in the corners is everything. In race trim these boats run around 124-125 mph.
