Yep- the Iron Eagle's are about the best. If you meant OEM, the 990 casting is about it. The 088 is good too- probably what was on your motor.

As you know - been thru this real recently.
The IE heads are real good. But supposed to be better ane the Edelbrock heads. PLUS they are like 70lbs lighter and build good HP. I have talked to lots of folks that have them and no issues thus far. Have you pulled the motor out and/or torn it down yet? |
Does this all apply to the dart alum heads?
|
About the best thing you can say for the Edelbrocks is that they're lighter. Nice price too.
Hand porting a cylinder head is not the most economical way to make power. It's on par with and sometimes more expensive than CNC. And the result is only as good as the person doing the work. There's much more to it than making the holes bigger. But done right, the results can be impressive. |
While you guys are talking heads what do you think about Pro Toplines? I just had to replace one of mine due to a few cracks.:(

They were a great head a few years ago. Head technology moves fairly fast Plus, they were bought out by RHS a while back.

950 hours on a pair of Merc HP500's is pretty good---I'm sure they're gettin' pretty tired. Also, if you're looking to do a cam change/upgrade call RMBuilder/Bob Madara of Marine Kinetics in N.Y. He will get you the correct profile that will work the best for your application and what you want to do with the boat. 585-654-8583

We are looking at a lot of parts Edelbrock, Dart (Alum. Iron ) World ( Merlin II ) and AFR's . So many parts so many inputs. We just want to make the right choices ,I DO NOT want to do this twice. We run mostly in salt water so will aluminium hold up for another 12 years as the past heads have ?
Thanks again for all the help. :ernaehrung004: Joby To many parts to little MONEY!!! |
