Switchable muffler question

I was out on Sunday & went to switch on my mufflers pulling into a restaurant & no mufflers. The boat is an Eliminator Daytona 28 Cat
Twin HP 500’s. The 4 mufflers all have a solenoid & none are working. Typically when I throw the switch you hear them all click pretty Loud . Now I here a clicking in the radio thru the speakers but no solenoid action. My question is if the switch on the dash is working
then if one solenoid is bad do they all not work? Just does not make any sense?

Check for a circuit breaker on the harness for the solenoids. If it is not tripped, then pull the connections off the solenoids and make sure they are not corroded.

Are they the Teague muffler tips ?

Are you saying that there might be an inline circut breaker? I have never seen that. But I will check.

I do not know. I belive they are factory installed so whom ever eliminator would use in 1999.
Where would I see who's muffler tips they are?

If the solenoid that switches them is inside the transom then they are probably Teagues.

Actually, I was thinking of Corsa which does have a breaker. Not sure on mufflers.

Then yes they are Teagues. The people I bought the boat from know Bob Teague & would guess they had his shop install them if the boat did not have them from Eliminator when new. So what do you think is wrong? Why would all 4 stop working if 1 is bad or are they wired that way ? Any help of where to look for the problem would be helpful.

If the solenoid catches fire they're probably Teagues. Bought 2 sets brand new, they burned up in less than one season.

Can't beleave all four burnt out at the same time. I would check for a blown fuse first and then a loose wire. :drink:

Jeff I agree. All 4 could not go at the same time. I hear a clicking sound over the stereo thru the speakers so when I throw the switch something is happening. Just not geting to the Solenoids.

I just wanted to post the fix for this to help any one else who has this issue. The Teague mufflers have a solenoid on each tip & then they are wired to another small automotive type of solenoid that looks just like the old ford starter solenoid in a car. When you throw the switch on the dash that triggers the automotive type of solenoid ( mine is mounted right on the transom inside the engine compartment & that is what controls all 4 tips on my boat). If that goes bad then all 4 tips don’t work & that was the problem. It is $25.00 for anew one from Teague & I am all fixed. So I am told that it is nearly impossible for more than 1 solenoid at the tips to go bad at the exact same time & if all don’t work all at once than this is the fix. Good luck & thanks for the help from you guys.
Dave
