Year 'round StaBil?

Aboslutely..gasoline is plain not dependable these days. In other words "unstable/reactive and oxidizes" varnish forms sooner than later.

StaBil prevents it for 2 yrs at a double dose..one year at regular dose..cleans carb/injectors valves too.

Does all gasoline fall prey to poor quality? What about 93 octane sold for marine engines?

Stabil will also stain the side of your boat yellow...not a big fan of it. If you use it dont spill it. I use SeaFoam instead.

I use StarTron

Hydrocruiser 08-28-2008 10:48 AM

I do know SeaFoam is very good.

Yes. Even more important if your motor requires it because of comp ratio. Octane #s drop quickly. Racing fuel still holds up pretty good with age.

If you plan on burning the gasoline in a month don't worry about it. Otherwise "StaBil Ize" it.

not so sure I totally believe all this hipe
However I will say that I did stabil it when last winterized.

I had my boat sit for over 2 years with 65 gallons in it.
Pulled all the gas out and burned it in the car/truck over the course of a couple weeks.
Everything ran fine :)
But I did not want to 'chance' it in the boat :)

So maybe it does work :)
The gas did not have the distinctive smell, but the typical varnish smell :(

Wally World has a green colored StaBil for gasoline with ethanol.

I have been using Startron year round, but now I am wondering has anybody done any testing on fuel additives and if they really live up to there claims or is some of it snake oil?
It is one thing if the fuel additives don't do what they claim but it's another if they can cause damage to your fuel system.
