454ho

Anybody out there ever drop a GM 454HO crate motor in? Just wondering problems, concerns, etc. Mostly wondering about the camshaft. Any reversion issues? Thanks for any help.!:p

Back in 1996 I purchased two 454 HO marine crate motors from 1.800.RUNSNEW for my 10M Fountain. I had a few questions about cam specs and I called the GM Powertrain Tonowanda NY plant. I spoke with an engineer there and he said the auto 454 HO has the same internals as the marine version.

If you are thinking about going with the 454HO, call 1 800 runsnew and buy from them. The marine motor has the bronze water crossover in the intake and has brass freeze plugs etc. I found that the marine version was less money than the auto version!.

Another place to try for a 454HO is Basic marine power in Harkers Island NC. They had great prices also.

Good luck, Kurt
