Hydraulic roller lifter

Installing a new hydraulic roller cam in a 1999 502 MPI. Who makes a good roller lifter?

Call "RMBuilder"/Bob Madara of Marine Kinetics in N.Y. and he will set you up with the correct lifters or point you in the right direction. Bob's number is 585-654-8583

Go with lifters from Bob. He will recommend Morels most likely.

In a stock 502MPI engine I would save your money and just install a new set of GM hydraulic roller lifters in the engine. We've been using them for years in mildly sprung motors and never a failure. GM Parts Direct.com for a good price.

Be sure the top of the factory lifter doesn't drop out of the dogbone. This becomes a concern at around .600 lift. Can be visually checked at assy. You don't need fancy gauges to see what I'm referring to.

Boaters who are re-camming there engines or building new engines should also pay attention to the new or replacement camshafts base circle size. A good camshaft company should give you a new proper size core billet camshaft not a regrind and this camshaft even with valve lifts of up to .650" lift should still have a base circle size of about 1.200" which will keep the lifter from dropping down so far it starts having a problem staying contained in the lifter alignment dogbones. We've seen this problem on a lot of engines where the camshaft had to small a base circle from poor camshaft design and grinding not eh net or gross lift numbers!

I think Comp makes a replacment lifter,cheaper than Crane,Chevy.

Try RMbuilder, he probaly can get a cheaper lifter than morel lifters,if $matters?
