big block valve cover gasket

I've got a set of fusion coated factory GM aluminum valve covers that use a rubber o-ring for a gasket and having trouble keeping them from leaking, reg gaskets don't apear to fit and the gaskets from GM are $52 per side which I think is whacked. anybody else using these and happen to have a felpro # ?? been trying to get it thru a auto parts store and felpro's website, thanks Rob

Hey Rob,

I cant help you with that one, but I feel your pain.... Although I have different covers, they leak all the time. There seems to be no fix that works. Damn annoying...

Make sure the bolts are not too long they may be bottoming out.

Overtightening them just makes it worse. Warps the covers.

I've seen contact cement used with decent results between the head and oring. Not in the oring groove.

yep ! those are the ones, valve covers really thick around the rails, be tuff to bow these before breaking the 1/4 bolts I would think...Rob
