Yes, the plate coolers are much more efficient than your standard round tube style oil coolers, that cooler would more than do its job for your application, there is somewhat of a slight chance it could be too efficient and the motor would run too cold in that case you would need an oil thermostat, I would try it first though. :drink:

Brian,

Do you by chance have the external dimensions of those coolers? How do they compare to this style? I understand an external thermostat would be needed. http://www.cpperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=912
(3" x 19" round)

Thanks,
Jon

The 8 plate- 12" long, 5" wide, 3" thick
The 13 plate-12" long, 5" wide, 4 1/2 thick
Those measurements are without fittings in the ends.
Both have a boss on the back to remote mount pretty much anywhere such as the top of the merc bellhousing. There are also an cooler nuts available to go with it for extra money but add convenience.

One more question Brian...
Are the required oil fittings o-ring style with 7/8 straight thread?

The inner threads are a 1/2 npt thread and the outter threads are a 7/8 straight thread. The coolers come with jam nuts but if you want the actual AN nuts they are extra. The jam nuts and AN nuts come with o-rings on them.
