which way does an oil filter flow?

Need to settle a bet, I say the oil enters through the small holes at the perimiter of the can and the filtered oil comes out of the big hole in the middle, buddy says its the opposite.

Who knows for sure which it is?

If the filter is plumbed into the system correctly, it is as you state.

There was a thread a few days ago about one plumbed backwards and oiling problems. If you put pressurte into the center, the media will blow outward and most likely come loose. Then it will go upward and clog the holes (this is on a remote filter pad, of course) In a Gen v/v1, it will go into internal bypass. In a Mark IV, you'll get no oil.
