Rocker arm geometry

Checking rocker arm geometry should the rocker roll acoss the top of the valve or shoud it stay in the center of the valve stem keeping it as norrow as possible?.

Across the center of the stem.
Take a black sharpy and color the top. Turn over the motor a couple of times and remove the rocker. Should be a place in the center of the stem about 1/8" where the marker is removed.

I like to use a degree wheel and bluing paste. At halfway thru the downward travel, the roller should be dead in the middle of the valve stem.
