Cam Help

I'm in the process of rebuilding a whipple charged 502 mag.
here's the deal.
the block is being punched out .30 over srp low compression pistons,50lbs fuel injectors, 5lbs of boost and canfield alum heads.
I want to use a crane cam # 168741 here's were I need your help.
has anyone of you used this cam in a similar setup?
what kind of torque and hp will I see?
how will it idle?
what's max RPM
this motor is in a 30' sleek craft.
any other suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks,

jdelo

What rpm rev limiters are you running if I remember right that cam makes it power in the higher range. Take a look at the 761 specs it might be a better choice. Then again what the heck do I know iI just posted the same type question:eek:
I am basing this off info I got from Crane. Scott

That's the cam I use. However, my blower set up is carb'd. With yours being computer controlled the nice little lope that cam has may cause a problem with the fuel injection. I'm not sure. I would check on it though. That size range of cam is a good choice for a blown 509 with 8.5-9:1 compression although I think you might do better on a 114 lsa than a 112.

Just my .02, check with Dustin though,
DAVE

Just about with 502 9.2 motor with Brodix BB2 plus alum heads and that 741 cam ground on a 114 l/c with a 7 psi procharger. I'm looking for 650 - 700 Hp . Going to the dyno to see I'll keep you guys posted. Greg

thank you Scott, Dave and Greg for your input.

The ECU rev limter is currently set at 5400 RPM. Pre tear down of the engine, I was spinning a 28 pitch lab prop @ 5000RPM.

It looks like the 114 deg LSA is the Ticket.
the engine bulider wants to use a custom grind Comp Cam with around 230 Duration on the intake @.50 and add 10 deg to the exhaust. the lift on intake upper 500's and again add 10 to the exhaust 114 deg LSA.

Greg how soon will you have the Dyno results ? I was told the best way to tune an EFI was in the boat not on the dyno. any comments.

I have another two weeks B/4 I get to that point.

Thanks Joe D. :) :)
