Looking for input on RacePumps.com Pump??
 

This question has been asked again and again.. Just wondering if anyone has used it with sucess yet? Or failures.

My friend said there was a thread recently that talked about this pump. I did several searches, but was unable to find any real good data on them..

Dick alot of guys have been running them in the circle track arena for about 2 yrs and have had great luck. I have never run one. If i remeber right i think you have to run a return back to the tank with them though.

The web site shows a setup with an "idle bleed off" return to the tank, but in most cases they say you dont need it. I heard bad press, but just hearsay. I would like to know if anyone is using it on there boat motor.. the most grueling test of all.. :)

I was going to buy one and try it, but i got worryd about that spring on the bottom wearin out and the pump will stop ??!

No return line but you do have to use their regulator. We have sold a lot of these and had nothing but positive feedback on them. Everybody seems to really like them. Ya it's funny, I've only heard really bad things about them but never from anyone who's actually used one.? I've never even seen one on a motor yet.. There must be a Guinea pig out there somewhere.. :drink:

i have had three customers that have replaced them with the pump we handle (s-x). they wore out the i.d. and would not pump.

CP, thanks for the response. I have one (pump and regulator) already and actually have been signed up as a dealer. I am in the process of building a new motor and some people recall only the bad issues. So I am looking for experienced situations. I have not run the unit on any motor to date.
I know the first pumps they offered had issues, but they were updated and improved a while back, not sure when. They changed out the seals, etc. If you go into the discussion forum with the owner and he recommended to one guy to put the "idle bleed circuit" remove it from the regulator on the back side of the fuel rails. I am hoping to find out if they are reliable, then I would like to find a way to sample the fuel going to the motor (or back to the tank) so I can sense the quanity of ethenal in the gas and adjust the A/R accordingly..
Jb-fse, do you know how old their pumps were and were then in a marine setup?

Funny we just discovered these last week as well and I think we will be going this route rather than electric.

If you go under news ( http://www.racepumps.com/magazine%20...%20Article.pdf )it looks like the last major write up the had was in 2007 and it covers all the changes they have made which sounds really positive. My engines will be EFI engines so looking forward to a cleaner set up at a much more reasonable price as well.

I purchased mine last year, but due to family and health issues, I never got my boat running this year. Trying to get a leg up on it for next summer!
I like the idea that I can clean up my 12vdc source by lessing the load on it. The ECU likes that clean power and I have done several steps to help in that area. The mechanical pump would help, in my opinion. Also the price of an electrical system to support 1200hp is quite high.
