Drive options for a 38 T/S Top Gun
Hey all,
A friend of mine blew an outdrive his last time out. He wanted me to ask / find out what options are out there. He is running, I beleive Xr's with sport masters. He was questioning if he should go with shortys or not. Any one have some real world experince with this set up & hull. And No Scotty, we are not putting dry sump 6's on it :) Thanks, Jr. |
How did you know ,,,,i was gonna say that ? LOL:rolleyes:
|
that set up should have short sport masters on it all ready. Does it have ITS on it or a standerd transom shield?

What broke on the drive? If it broke something in the lower (vertical shaft is a common break), an IMCO lower(shorter or standard) would be a good choice since it has much stronger shafts that are torsional(they will twist and give and not break)

I agree with you. WOHOOO .
But dont forget i still have those # 6 drives and gimbals. Actually 4 sets. |
Young,
Thanks for the reply.................... If the vertical shaft is beefed up then what becomes the next weakest link? Jr |
What is everyone else running?

My bud was intersted in trying to increase speed since he has to spend the money. Plus, if he upgraded, fixing the drives he has now for spares could be a plus if there is some mph to gain.
