Eddie,
Do the NA 750-770s dyno that number with the E-Tops? I'm building a pair of 588s and have Sport Tubes. I was thinking the Sport Tubes would limit me to about 700 or so. Just curious. Thanks, Dave [WOW nice pice!! Is the oiling system around the valve cover rail for valvetrain cooling?? Charlie[/QUOTE] Thanks Charlie, yes the lines are for valvespring oilers. There are eight little brass tubes in the inside of the valve cover rail that spray oil on each valvespring. Eddie |
Thanks Eddie,
I just went out and measured them and they are 1.875 just like the E-Tops :( I will be dyno testing these motors wet and fully dressed so we'll see around March. Thanks Again, Dave |
I know of one builder who just made 1360hp @ 12.5psi of boost, 93 octane, pump gas, 604ci, no methanol, expecting 1450 with methanol injection. Whipples made 200+ hp more than 1471 with 2.5 less psi. Thats by far the most I've seen for a performance engine. Requires big chief style heads.

1400+ on 93 octane and metanol injection. Other wise we dynoed at 1150 on 93 octane only. I have been told 1200 is about it on pump gas. That is assuming you have all the right parts (the right engine builder) and big cubic inches.

I do a 598ci NA that makes 750-770 hp and a 598ci that makes 1200 hp, both on 93 octane. I can do either with a carb or efi.
Here are some pics of a 1200efi. The 750 pics are on another computer. You can see them at www.YoungPerformanceMarine.com Let me know if I can help you in any way, Eddie. Nice job as always, motors look amazing! Really like the way you mounted everything in the back. Dustin |

Thanks Dustin. I actually made it to 1326 hp at 6600 rpm on 93 octane.(no methanol) EGT's had stabalized and actually started coming down. AFR's were dropping the whole time(stayed in the 11's) and it never so much as touched the knock sensor. Unfortunately, the dyno could not hold it for more than a few seconds. The water in the brake was over 160 deg. and climbing fast and it was starting to cavitate. I would have liked to seen where the intake air temps were going to go. Bear in mind that this is with 23 deg heads and a hydraulic roller. The customer wants reliability and a maintenance free valvetrain that will go over 100 hrs., not maximum hp. With more cam, more rpm and more head, who knows where it could go.

I got 830+ hp out of my 622ci N/A with 91 octane and cmi big tubes, and single 1150 carb. but I would love to find a 1471 to put on it. It's no match for some of the motors listed, but for a na it runs pretty good.

Eddie, nice work, and the pics are great. I have a question, not to change the subject, but how well do the valve covers work. I was told they leak for some people, ever have any complaints?
Next question, what Hydraulic roller cam did you take to 6600rpm? Thanks! Dick |
Hi Dick the valve covers work great thats what i have on my motor. Some of them did leak but i hear they got that fixed. How is the back ,you ready for some out drives yet?
