exhaust reversion
 

I have a set of tips with internal baffles, these came from well known company which told me that a big part of reversion is that with a open exhaust without mufflers or baffles will cause it to happen. So with no restrictions in the exhaust would that cause reversion to happen. 502 carb crane cam 168731 with a set of very long tips. The exhaust is made by another company that also makes a great product. Is this possibile ,I always thought that reversion happen when you come off the throttle fast. any thoughts Thanks

revision can occur just at idle with the wrong cam....exhaust, cam, all come into play

also the water used to cool your engine could get pulled up into your engine,,,,both will cause a bad day

If I understand engines reversion is caused by excessive overlap on a rowdy cam.(the period when the exhaust and intake valves are open at the same time at low RPM's) This can allow water to be sucked into the combustion chamber at Idle with the wrong exhaust set up. Of course if you come off plane and get a big backwash without flappers the engine could ingest water also. I always keep my RPM's over a 1000 until the backwash has subsided even with flappers just to be safe.

That company is confused between water intrusion and reversion. Not the same ! Although both can have the same consequences.
