Oil Drain Hose
 

I have a 2005 HP525 and everytime I try to change the oil with the oil drain hose with no luck....the hose barely drips any oil.

I warm up the motor for about 10 minutes, open both oil fill caps, loosen the oil filter, and pull the dipstick out. Nothing. Is there a safety shut off valve or something? I have an oil pump, so it's not a big deal. But, what's up with that?

Make sure you do not have a kink in the hose, I had one on my other engine worked ok once you got out strait and way down, not fast though...Rob

The fitting that adapts the hole in the oil pan to the actual hose is the restriction in itself because it steps the size of the hole down in order to thred the hose on... There is nothing wrong with it. You just need to pump it out even though maybe it "seems" like it should come out on it's own.

I stick mine out through the drain plug and then hook a cheapo pump to it and use a cordless drill to run it. I pump it into a 5 gallon can in about 3 minutes.

I even do it on the lift using the paddle boat.:drink:

Mine drain 95% of the oil out even without it being warmed up. It just takes longer. You have to make sure the entire hose is below the pan and that the engines are at least level. My garage is level and I have to lift the trailer tongue up with a floor jack.

Yep.....check the hose for kinks. Have two motors, in a 38 Fountain, one would drain slowly, but drain. The other would drip as you discribed. The drain hose was kinked.

I have my drain hose's attached to my drain plugs buy a stainlessteel cable the type that are used to retain hatch clips does three things 1 keeps the hose from wraping up 2 hose is always right there easy to find 3 my drain plugs never get lost just bend over and pull out the plugs from each sponson and let hang there buy the cable also I put a 4" stainlessteel roll pin into the head of each plug for easy removal

I made this pump kit, works real good:drink:pumps so fast ya have to wait for the oil to finish draining down.

ya must have a restriction?

What 1BIGJIM said. A cheap pump available from Home Cheapo and a drill will have 7 quarts in the drain pan in way less time than it takes to enjoy one beer.
