Spectre Power Valve Saver?

Any comments on the check valve that is supposed to prevent a Power Valve blowout on the holley carbs? I can see that Summit Racing has one for about $8 from SPECTRE.

Backfiring is what causes the powervalves to blow out. It really does happen as I had it happen to mine when tuning a new engine. I had my carb guy install one when he was working on my carb, so I don't know how difficult it is to do but I hear it is very easy. I THINK it's not much more than a ball bearing that works like a check valve. I haven't had the valve blow out since (6yrs). Magazines highly recommend them, and Holley now installs them in some carbs

Yes it is a small check ball keeps a backfire from blowing out the power valve with no choke it will pop back. Then it will idle rich and load up at slow speeds and they are easy to install.;)

Great........thanks for the input thus far. I figure the cost (<$10) for this, versus, the pain-in-the-A of potentially blowing a valve is worth the cost............THANKS!!:) :)
