Looking for reliable hp

I am repowering a 36 nortech. Looking at 900-1100 hp range. How many hours should i expect before an overhaul. I've been quoted anywhere from 25k for a carb setup all the way to 80k for an efi setup per engine. Does the high dollar stuff last that much longer? I'm running asd7 drives. Will they hold behind 1100hp? Thanks.

How about a pair of 598 C.I. - 950 HP roller cam supercharged engines for $60k including CMI Big Tubes?

For that kind of HP, I wouldn't expect to pay less than 50k per fully dressed engine and expect them to last.

Griff how many hours should 50k engines last under medium duty vs 25k engines?

Depends on who builds them, Eickert, Sterling, Teague, Boostpower, their are alot of builders. But when dealing with unkowns or locals builders, some build great motors, you have to do your homework. In the 1000 hp range you are looking at 100 hrs before you have to do something other than normal maintaince usually.

Just make sure that whoever you are getting the quotes from has a very good track record with marine hi-perf offshore engines.

My builder would probably tell you that if you're building from scratch, then stick with carbs vs fuel injection unless it already came that way. Carbs are very simple, reliable and work very well these days---that is unless you really want FI. He has built some very high dollar offshore racing engines w/EFI since the early 90's. And he is very knowledgable with the ASD's----besides having an outstanding reputation and track record. Dave Wesseldyke of WESCO Racing Engines in Jenison, Michigan www.wescoracingengines.com

to get that much H/P and to run on pump gas....the pin will have been pulled.....don't expect longevity....best bet big cubes, low boost blowers....

Beak boater what do you have to do other than normal maintanence ? Kaama i do like efi. I've had a 1000 hp carb blower motor and don't want that savagery anymore.
Daredevil i like the superchared engines because i can turn up boost for poker runs then dial back for everyday boating.
Ezstriper how many reliable hours can one expect from
1100hp?
1000hp?
900hp?
800hp?
