Hull Blueprinting

Have a 1996 Velocity 260 off the trailer on dollies, just finished painting it. I'm really considering while I'm here to blueprint the hull and try to get some more speed out of it. Currently I've dropped the 454 and Bravo 1 and built a 540 and I'm buying a imco drive this spring for it.

Anyone else taken the time to Blueprint their Velocity ??? What could I expect to gain ? 1-5 mph ? depending on the hull condition and if there is a hook.

Do a search in the Velocity forum. There are a few threads on this subject. I too was considering blueprinting the bottom. Thoughts vary on the cost vs. gain.

Since you have it up and off the trailer get a long straight edge at least 4 foot. Use this to check for a hook on the strakes and on the pad. Seeing that it is a padded hull , I would think the biggest part to inspect and work on is the pad. Make sure it is Flat and the edges are sharp not rounded , even at the back of the hull where it meets the transom. You will need to sand it and gel coat it and sand it and gel coat it till a you get it sharp.
