Merc 600SCI and 87 Octane

Hey Guys,

Merc's website and a recent article in Powerboat says you can now run 87 Octane in the MR 600SCI motors. Has anybody tried this yet? Any issues with smartcraft alarms?

Any info would be appreicated.

I have run my 600sci on 87 a couple of times due to getting fuel on the lake..... no problems or noticable reduction in performance.

Yes, from day 1, this engine could run on 87, thats how conservative it's setup. When you run 7.5:1 compression, 4.5psi of boost, intercooled, aluminum heads, you have a world of safety margin built in.
