Exhaust request for 454 Mag
I am happy. I bought my first offshore boat in the states, a 32 baja with two Mercrusier 454 mag engines. Now I have it at home in my garage in Austria. Unfortunally the iron headers and risers are to be changed. I am thinking of changing them to something newer and better!!
Who of you pro´s have a good idea which exhaust system will be right for me. It should be watercooled together with fresh water cooling. All other parts of the engines are mostly original. I do not want to spend too much money for an exhaust which makes no sense or is used on high performance engines. Which brand should I search for? Any idea? thanks for your help Chris |
Aftermarket exhaust is expensive. I have EMI exhaust with long stanless risers. Anything that is a stock replacement is probably not very good for performance. Welcome to OSO!!

I have 2 sets of Ico aluminum manifolds and S/S risers on ebay now, item #380098362213 for $1600. per pair. They have about 20 hours on them. I have 2 sets of Corsa thru hull tips for $200. each set. Worked great on my 650hp's.

I think I want good aluminium manifolds with stainless risers, something I can use, if i do little upgrades on my engines next time. Silent would be great.
Mercruiser BBC 454 mag, risers are cooled by saltwater. |
Dana exhaust

Yes, Dana offers polished Marine Flow Torque silent exhaust systems with Vortec IV stainless risers for 2320,-/pr.
I like theese too. Does anybody have a better idea - please let me know! |
Stainless Marine (aluminum manifold type) exhaust system is an excellent performance and durability product for your 454's and they have been around for a long time and have a great reputation.
I don't know much about the IMCO exhausts, but it sounds like "fireboatpilot" might have a decent deal if they're everything he says they are. I would have them pressure checked before buying....especially if you live out of the USA. |
They're still on ebay, check them out. Nice pieces, I got rid of the boat they where on and don't need them on my new boat. Trying to raise money for drives and extension boxes. Anyone have anything they could part with? Thanks! email me at [email protected] or thru ebay
