Idle RPM in/out of Gear on Larger N.A.Carb Motors
I realize there are many variables such as prop pitch, twin vs single, cam, CR, etc... But I am just curious what rpm's you guys idle in and out of gear with your Bravo setups with 540-598ci carb motors.
Approximate cam specs, ci, carb setup would be helpful
Thanks,
Dave

Yea, your right Rick... That won't be a fair comparison as I've taken a step back in time with the carb setups
I haven't even tried it yet and the hatch is being modified for clearance so I just have too much time to ponder things.
It does idle pretty nicely at 900 on the trailer though
Just curious how the other carb guys are doing with idle control.
Have fun this weekend! The hatch won't be done til next week so I'll probably be doing yard work

Idle
I have a 540 9:5 cr Aluminum heads .672 lift cam. I can idle in gear and shift at 600 rpm. I am set at 800 RPM. Most think this is a EFI 502. This is the best setup I have had. To me your two best friends are a good carb guy and engine tempature.
I had Doug from Braswell do my carb 995cfm 4150 flange demon (yes I know thats a little small)
I used a fresh water cool kit from Monitor Marine and Jerry Sellahowski (sp) at competion products formerly Mercury Racing built the engine.
If you have heat in your engine it helps greatly I am 170 F at idle. 180 wot
