If i remember correctly, the 251 checkmate was a narrow hull, and a fast hull also. I would bet that thing once propped right, should be damn near 80mph, possibly better. My buddy has a 261 checkmate, and his best top mph was with a hydromotive 4 blade.

Wow
As a slow boater ( other boat runs a hot 21.5 mph) the thought of going over 50 is wild to me.
Even though I pulled the motor I think its best to have George ovr at Performance marine in Fox lake Drop it in and Align it. When I bought this boat I a thought I got a great deal an spent $8000.00 for it. I ran it one afternoon and filled it with water. I pulled off Imco exhaust and all the plumbing was filled with sand. I boat on Lake Michigan so the sand was in before me. I just felt like I wanted to start this season with no known issues. I think I am still doing ok I will have about 17,600.00 in with New motor and the outdrive has been gone through and resealed. I will address the prop sizing through Propscan over By midway airport. They did a great job on the big boat just balancing and cupping sqeaked 2 knots out of her. (thats 10%). Again my thanks to everybody, I appreciate taking the time to share your experience with me. I have to say this gourp is much easier to deal with than the big boat guys. Seems like all of them have coveted secrets and I alays feel like they are trying to pull a fast one. I have to say dealing with Bill and George I am completely happy with the way they communicate. George called me about spending an extra $70.00 on a steel coupler. I have had a mechanic pull and lose a $5000.00 generator without asking whether it needed to be be repaired before. I look forward to learning and having fun and hopefully participating in some these gatherings. Thanks to all Bill Karmis |

You might want to look into hydraulic steering for it. For safety reasons, I just picked up an add on hyd system for my 23 Nova, which does +80  (yes everyone... I know, full hyd is the best way to go. I have my reasons so please, don't kick my ass :drink: ). Have fun vig !! |
