electric shifters

Does anyone know if it is possible to have a single shifter/throttle changed to a two lever shifter - throttle if you have electric shift on your single handle.
I have a 1978 IMP w/ 454 merc with transmission w/ electric shift, single handle. You have to push in a botton to take it out of gear,(like when you start the motor). Any help would be greatly appreciated. :drink:

It takes some fabrication. I've updated several electric shifts to livorsi style controls.

There was a bracket assembly for maunual shift cables for the merc trans. Try Marc at Bam Marine. Mercruiserparts.com he can probably help you out.

First time I ever met Larry Goldman Was at turnberry, he was out in a small 16' boat (similar to a 16 donzi) with electric shift, he pulled head on into the slip, pulled the shifter back into neutral and it kept on going in forward, he went right under the dock and didn't stop until it hit the land on the other side.
