transmission /oil cooler ??

Hello All,

I'm looking at a transmission cooler which is longer than my oil cooler, what is the differnce between the two for cooling. Can you use a tranny cooler for engine oil ? I need a larger cooler than my stock 13 inch oil cooler does anyone know where I can find on with NPT fittings.

I use a stock 12 " oilcooler for my tranny and the 2 on the bellhousing for the engine . Works fine !!! Why would u need a bigger one ? What kind of tranny and what power ?

I have no transmission , I need a larger engine oil cooler. I found a 17 inch tranny cooler but not sure if I can use it for engine oil cooling. I have not seen the tranny cooler, not sure if its the same as a mercruiser power steering cooler .

Trans. cooler are usually 2" dia. with 3/8 npt fittings. You need at least 3" dia with 1/2 npt fittings.
