Oil Flow Route for a Merc BBC
 

Does anyone have an oil flow route diagram for a Merc 496HO engine block internals or if not that for a 502? I am specifically after the oil flow route at the oil filter boss including the oil pressure bypass valves.

Attached is a picture of a BBC oil filter boss.

The picture showns the offset oil bypass valve has been removed and hole plugged. Where does the oil that would enter this hole go?

Underneath the hex ID drive fitting in the center of the oil filter boss is the second oil bypass valve. Where does the oil that would enter this hole go?

I built one with plugged bypass no problem a gen 6,then a gen 5 wo u ld not show oil pressure w gauge to block ,put bypass back ,no problem ,pump was primed ,heard oil going thru lifters,did bearings get oiled ?
