please help me with this:
who knows what the little round boxes are used for. they sit just over the stock position of the oil filter on my 454 mags. only one wire runs to each. on one engine i am missing the second, smaller box.

Sounds like you are possibly describing the analog oil pressure sending units. They send engine oil pressure to your dash guages generally.

i think you are right, the bigger one runs to the gauge for oilpressure, the other - i do not know.

The other is probably for the low oil pressure alarm.

I think its a tan wire with blue stripe that is for all alarm stuff.
