My boat was built with 1998 600SC's. They had bigger cams installed, large superchillers, PFM belt drives and the boost upped to 10psi, and spin to 6000RPM. They are making 800hp now. Not sure what was done to the carbs. The motors run on 91 octane, have about 140 hrs on them, and have been ultra reliable. I have never once experienced issues with either.

I've never heard anything bad about the 525SC's,the 600SC's or the 800SC's.Merc used top shelf parts with conservative compression ratios, cam profiles, etc. I've had my 800SC's almost nine years now. Totally bulletproof.
