Best Wax?

I know that everyone has a favorite wax that they use. I have used 3M, Meguiers, and several others. Nothing has really ever stood out to be the best. I would love to find a good new brand that I haven't heard of, that works well....

Any ideas....

I've used Meguiers Flagship Premium as a finish coat. Not much good for the bottom hull, as it vanishes quickly, but good for a hull finish coat. I use Gel Coat Labs Polisher and the Sealer, plus a final coat. You can find them at http://www.properboatcare.com/bowtostern.html Very awesome products, easy to apply, fast to wipe.

Other products abound, and none of the good ones are waxes at all.

I like using Meguiers boat & rv cleaner wax ffor the first coat.

Try the products from "Driven". Their ads are in Powerboat Magazine. Their poish takes out the waterspots.

Leverage by Marine Clean. There are threads in one of the other sections. Great stuff and super easy to apply.

The best wax is one applied by someone else.

I use 3m ultra performance. Shines great and lasts the best of anything I have used. I am going to use leverage polish then 3m this summer, just to see if it makes any difference.

Frenzy. Easy on Easy off. Leaves a great shine and lasts.
It keeps my transom cleaner longer than a couple of the others I've used.

A wise man told me Meguiars cleaner polish. It worked for me.

I bought a Vette two years ago and it looked so good I ask the previous owner why it shined better than others and he put me on to micropoxy. I have used it on everything since. It also lasts longer than any other wax I have ever used.

dont you have to ask the question 2 ways,

1) best wax for gel
2) best wax for paint

or is it all the same?

i need to know the best wax for paint

endeavour32 12-27-2009 05:18 PM

I've tried them all. Collinite 885 is hands down the best, just make sure you follow the instrustions or you'll have a devil of a time getting that stuff off... One it dries its hard as nails and will last a whole season. My sailboat was still beading water and looked good after 12 months!
