fuel drainback? Tach reading?

I have two questions. Have been trying to find out what has been going on with my fuel system. Over year ago swapped from hollys to eldebrock performers. Since then has been hard to crank. Spins fine. Several months ago installed fuel pressure gauges mounted between carb and filter. Watched while cranking, no fuel press for awhile. Once press got there starts to fire. Did not do this with hollys. New fuel pumps. Regulators set to 5.5 psi per eldebrock specs. Changed anti siphon valves at tank. Carbs were new when installed. Don't want to burn up starters, major PIA. Any ideas???
Other question was on one of my tachs, when you turn key off, needle creeps up to about 1000-1500 rpm. As if its getting some kind of voltage. Turn key on and immeadiantly drops to zero. Otherwise tach works fine. Tachs are new Gaffrig.
Thanks in advance.

I would change the tachs from side to side !! If its the tach Gaffrig will replace it with NO questions asked. but i had that happen befor and just never worried about it .LOL
With the Crabs ??????? couldnt tell u other then switch back to Holleys !!:ernaehrung004:

DUH.. did not think about switching sides. I will try this. Does not bother me that it rises just worry that I may have some voltage going to something/somewhere that aint supposed to. Never had the batteries go dead after sitting for 2 to 3 weeks.
The holly carbs were real junky, not marine and way too big for my application when engines were redone.
Thanks for the reply

What kind of engine is it ???? maybe the edelbrock are to small and also i think your fuel press ( even thogh edelbrock says that ) is to low,,,on a carbed BB should be around 7.5 PSI:eek:

Then again i think edelbrock belongs on the street and holley in a boat or the street !!:ernaehrung004:

I have 454 Mk4 dynoed at 460 HP. Eldebrock 750 marine carbs on stock merc hi rise on squareport heads.
Talked to eldebrock rep and like in manual he did not recommend over 5 1/2. I too think thats alittle low but he said higher I may be looking at problems with carb. Think that 750 cfm is sufficient for 460 hp. Do most of my cruisin at 3800 rpm. I know you get what you pay for but new marine hollys for my application are expensive.
Thanks for your input.
