Water thru hull location

You guys with Shadows, Chris Cats, and other cats with similar bottoms. Where are your engine water thru-hulls located?

Mine are thru the sponson pads (flanges mounted externally), about 5" forward of the transom, about 3/4" long, and directly in-line with the drives. I tried shortening them about 1/8" and that caused a loss of water pressure. Doesn't seem like a great location (as far as "drag" and water to the prop is concerned).

I made mine flush and ground out some of the gelcoat and fiberglass to get the water presure back up. This was on a 28' Daytona.

I've had chris cats set up with transom mounted and thru hulls. The thru hulls were only about 1 ft from the transom. Cut at an angle. Front was flush with bottom, back was 3/8" long. Both setups were as close to the tunnel as possible.

From some off-board discussions, it seems that the externally mounted flange might be causing turbulence, which makes it necessary to have a longer tube. I'll try a new intake with an internal flange. Thanks to all. :D
