Proper Set Up WOT versus HP or Torque

I want to try and dial in boat a bit and was wondering if there is ant merit to matching Prop/gear set to peak HP or Torque? Trying to determine what maximum RPM's I should be turning? Any opinions on if there is any correlation or if it is just trial and error to what gets best performance?

I have been told that you should prop a boat at peak hp, or slightly above. Definately not at peak torque.

If that is correct then I should be at 5700-5800. Current rev limiter is at 6000? Is this too close?

Storm....generally speaking, cats like prop speed the more the better. You should shoot to turn as many rpm as your engines can handle. I don't know what your power is but most 33's I've been around with some power turn 6-6300 and they fly. 130-140. You are good on the rev limiter if you get 5800 when the air is cool, if its when things are hot and humid you might bang it when it cools off...no biggie you'll feel and hear it and know what you'll need to do. :drink:

Nice looking 33 btw.

Sounds like the rev limiter is set correctly.

I would prop for 5800-5900
