1985 verss 1989 4.3 mercrusier

Will a 1985 mercrusier 4.3 engine fit in a 1989.
I have a blown 1989 4.3 mercrusier and have a 1985 replacement available but wanted to know if it will work.
Anyone know if this will work or what the difference is?

As far as bolting in the boat....no problem. I'm not sure when they changed that engine to a balance shaft setup, so you may have a problem with some of the accessories. If the new engine is 100% complete, then no problem...just put it in. It will bolt right in place of the old one.
