Harmonic balancer ?
will a gen IV and gen V harmonic balancer interchange?
|
noone knows if I can put a balancer off a mark IV motor on a Gen v motor?
|
They will interchange but if you are running external balance engine the balance might be off,a balance shop can check your old one and match the new one to it,if needed
|
Thanks for the reply, I will do that

I am 99% sure they have a different balance.

tx,
I just looked in the new GMPP catalog and at ATI's web site and they both say that they are interchangable. Bill Koustenis Advanced Automotive Machine Waldorf Md |
Thanks for looking Bill, I should have thought about looking it up.

That damn 1% got me again. :evilb:
For some reason, I think the casting numbers on the Mk IV and the Gen V and VI are different. They may make different ones but they have the same counterbalance. |
Thoses different ones are between the 502 and 454 Gen VI, the heavier rotating mass of the 502 means the balancer doesn't have a fly cut groove on the outer ring. Other than that, there's only the timing marked in degrees vs just TDC that apparently separates the balancers. They all have the same snout diameter and are interchangeable.
