blue printing bottom

Has anybody ever blueprinted the bottom of their boat? How is it done, and how much difference does it make?

I talked with a guy that had the same boat as me, a 28 Scarab Excel but with 750 hp. he said he spent a few thousand on blueprinting and got no speed gains at all. But that's not true on all boats.

I am in the process of re-doing the bottom of mine. While removing the bottom paint I found some areas that need fixed as well as what appears to be a hook on one side only. I have not yet put the straight edge to it yet as there is still paint on the side with the hook. I have a couple pics in the "miss" section. I will be posting progress (or lack of) reports.
