hey jimv, which valves?
hi jim, what do you think of stellite tips on valves, does it shatter?
i just tulipped an exhaust valve, i was thinking of 24n4 (i think thats the #) stainless one peice with undercut stems from mildon. is the 24-2 any worse? is inconel worth the extra money, i'm sure it's durable but it's pretty heavy too and expensive. (naturals). thanks Fran |
Hi Excal. How's it going? Fred from this board has located a 40 Wellcraft Hawk with 420's that he's pretty excited about. Do you know anything about these boats?

hey crazy,
i can only speak for the one i have because it's the only excalibur i've ever owned , the 42 eagle. i can honestly tell you, not because i own it but no B.S. it's the best riding boat i've ever been on. i made a run from the cape may canal to the c&d canal through the delaware bay in a noreaster. and lived. it's not the fastest but not the slowest either. loaded, AC, heat, shower, head, micro, tv vcr, cd, dvd, in a speedboat thats living!!! i can go out any day when it's nice and not care about wind. a big plus in the northeast. i was kickin around the idea of going back to a smaller trailerable so Fred can contact me too if he wants to find out more. sorry i couldn't help more as i'm not much of an X-bur historian. These are the kind of threads that make the board. glad to see them.

No problems with the stellite tips. I dont know anything about the milodon valves. I use Ferrea valves, no problems with them in years so Im afraid to try anything else. Sorry I cant be more help. If you tuliped a valve find the cause before you run it. JimV Crazyhorse, When is the next meeting at the Tap Room? |
Excal, take a very close look at your cam to make sure you don't have a short lobe.
I spent some time in a friend's 42 Eagle and I agree with you about the ride quality of that boat. Best riding boat I've ever been in. Who cares about speed when you can run 45 mph in 5-8 footers and not spill your soda pop? |
thanks jimv and crazy
i will take a close look at the cam as i am not sure what caused the problem. Fran |
